We are excited to officially send out the ICAN 2017 Conference Registration information!!! As we announced back in July of last year, the 2017 ICAN conference will be in San Francisco, CA from July 28-30. Attached are the documents that you will need to complete to register for the conference. I am happy to let everyone know that conference registration fees will once remain the same as they were in 2015 (and 2013). One slight change is that the registration will close on June 15 to allow us to properly plan the meals and childcare so please complete prior to this date.
The registration packet (links below) includes detail regarding the event times and locations. Generally, all activities for the speaking sessions, childcare, and social events will be held at the San Francisco, Marriott Marquis. We have blocked hotel rooms at the Marquis that can be reserved at the nightly rate of $229, which is very competitive in the San Francisco market. I highly recommend that families stay at the Marriott Marquis if possible. We’ve tried hard to centralize the events this year to keep families together as much as possible. The link to the ICAN hotel block is in the registration document and attached below. If you plan to stay at the hotel, please book through this link.
The free clinic at this year’s conference will be held on Friday, July 28 at UCSF Mission Bay Medical Center. The clinic will be lead by Dr. Adele Schneider, Dr. Anne Slavotinek & Sarina Kopinsky and will include Ophthalmology, Genetic, Oculoplastic, and Ocularist professionals. The clinic does require pre-registration (documents also attached) and space is limited to 20 children. A detailed schedule for the clinic will be provided as we get closer to the conference for families who register.
In addition to the registration documents, there are two other forms to complete. The first is the childcare waiver from CKE. This is required if you plan to take advantage of the childcare services. As with last year, there will be a theme to the childcare that includes games, activities and art projects. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions regarding childcare. The final attachment is the photo consent form.
Over the next few months, I am sure there will be plenty of questions so please do not hesitate to reach out at any time and we’ll get back to you quickly. Many of you know Erin Rosenberg from our last conference, as well as her support on our facebook site. Erin currently lives in San Francisco and has graciously volunteered to be our point person for any San Francisco specific questions (activities, getting around the city, restaurants, etc.). She is copied on this email and will make sure that everyone has her contact information. Email and our ICAN facebook site will be the primary ways in which we communicate conference updates so please feel free to use either for questions as well.
Lastly, we are always looking for more volunteers to help with the conference and continue to work to raise funds to support this wonderful event. Please reach out to me if you have ideas for raising funds or volunteering to help with the conference.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone in late July!
